Nevan Doyle is a Los Angeles based creative from rural Oregon.

Under the moniker Mishko, they came up as a photographer and digital artist. Originally it was all a ploy to make Nevan’s high school band look like a touring act rather than some local teens with photoshoots, posters, album covers, merch designs, and the such. When the band later split apart, Nevan’s dreams of being a rockstar felt dashed. They continued to work on solo music, but began focusing more and more on their digital art, exploring through the lens of spiritual expansion and mental health. Art became a form of therapy and Nevan began creating a new artwork near-daily for years. Through these explorations, they found a style blending surreality, nostalgia, & natural psychedelia – driven by the desire to make the digital work feel analog/tangible.

Channeling this style into typography led to an explosion in Nevan’s online presence. Others became inspired to recreate their work, leading to Nevan’s colorful melting word art being dubbed “The Mishko Effect.” It became a graphic design trend far bigger than Nevan’s output. This explosion also led to getting the opportunities to create work for music artists and brands from across the globe including HBO, Disney, Calvin Klein, Scholastic, Janet Jackson, Green Day, OutKast, and many more.

Nevan had always wanted to be an actor, but had never admitted it to themself. Growing up in a small logging town, that simply wasn’t a realistic idea. But the proof was undeniable – Nevan was the lead in the first grade play E-I-E-I-Oops in the esteemed role of Farmer Old MacDonald (basically saving the day as the original lead dropped out with only weeks to spare). The following years though, Nevan only longingly watched as others auditioned for the school plays. Anxiety and repressed sexuality made Nevan feel that they weren’t even allowed to perform in that capacity – what if someone started thinking they were gay?!

Once moving to LA, these old made-up limitations were stripped away, and Nevan began focusing on acting, writing, and directing. They joined a two year Meisner conservatory program at Elizabeth Mestnik Acting Studio, starred in Daniyar’s short film Two Tulips, and begin directing music videos and working on their own songwriting/production at the same time.

Currently, Nevan is studying TV & film acting with Joshua LeBar
